‘Beast of Burden’ was recorded in 1977 at Pathé Marconi Studios in Paris. It was originally released as the second single off the ‘Some Girls’ album on September 9, 1978 and charted at #8 in the US.
Nearly 37 years later it has been chosen to be featured on the ‘Shades of Grey‘ soundtrack which is currently ranked number one on iTunes album download charts!

Just got my copy of this wonderful album Femina Australis by Maryen Cairns , produced by Chris Kimsey (Rolling Stones) . Great record , lovely package includes a booklet with the stories of the twelve women featured in the songs. Very proud to have played the bass on this, Ashley Soan on drums , Red Young keys , plus a cast of many more.
